In 2025 we will supposedly be more connected than ever; however due to our attachment to technology we will be alive, but not living, present, but not there.
Playing games means that you truly have to engage with those around you and with board games regaining popularity, it's a great opportunity to use them to enhance our friendships and to help local game designers by testing their new creations.
BrewDog Play is a digital board game with a collection of games that can be played at a BrewDog bar. Simply ask for a Play Board and turn it on by pulling the wooden frame apart to roll out the flexible e-ink screen.
BrewDog provides classic games for everyone to play for free and if a player purchases a new game, it is free for the whole bar to play for the evening.
You can choose to play either totally digitally, or if you want the tactile experience you can ask BrewDog to 3D print pieces for you while you wait for your drinks to be poured.
Smartphone displays can be used to show ‘hands’ of cards. Doing so will disable all phone notifications to allow total focus on the game.
If a new game has been designed in the area and uploaded to the database, it is free for local players to play. This could also be used as a platform for beta testing before a game is released onto the market to gain feedback from the community.
